Jupiter in Pisces

“Somebody once said we never know what is enough until we know what’s more than enough.”

Eleanora Fagan (April 7, 1915 – July 17, 1959), professionally known as:

Billie Holiday. Jazz musician/Singer/Song-Writer – Jupiter in Pisces

Jupiter. The planet of expansion, growth and joy. It is known in astrological terms as ‘The Great Benefic’ – a friendly planet. In the following paragraphs, I will explain that Jupiter in Pisces in a chart needs to come with a health warning about the perils of excess on a gentle heart.

No doubt that this placement of Jupiter sits very well in Pisces in terms of creativity. Art and music are the gifts of creativity to the world. The Jazz world would not be complete without Billie Holidays gifts.

Jupiter in Pisces denotes a wonderfully charitable nature, generous and kind to a fault. Jupiter also has the tendency to expand everything it touches – to give charitably to the point of the natives utter depletion, for example – when in Pisces. This often results in physical/mental burn out or literally the sacrificing of your own life force for others.

Jupiter in Pisces natives must certainly put into practice the ability to say NO occasionally. They need to know that it is okay to put yourself at the top of your own priority list. The adage of ensuring that you treat your neighbour AS you treat yourself, should be kept firmly in mind and pondered on daily. After all – if you are not looking after yourself you can’t really look after anyone else authentically. Such a difficult concept to believe in with Jupiter in Pisces. The sacrifice of self is almost aimed for with this placement.

Billie Holiday had and still has on the other side no doubt – a deeply rich soul. Her feelings were channelled into her music which has stood the test of time, crossing the generations to this day. A true expression of the expansion of her feelings – and her testament of joy in them.

Her famous rendition of the Jazz standard “All of Me” is so ‘Jupiter in Pisces’. Billie Holiday really owned this song. The lyrics are simple yet full of evocative emotion. The Piscean nature in Jupiter is a beautiful artistic sea too beautiful to ever really fathom. Billie Holiday really did put her soul into every track she ever recorded and we are in awe of her depth, tone and spirit to this day.

It is well known that Billie Holiday had a life full of hardships which resulted in an addiction to heroin as a way of escaping the brutal pain of horrible incidents in her life. Coupled with alcohol, her demise was tragic through the development of liver and heart disease. On her deathbed, it is reported that she was arrested for drug possession.

She died with 70 cents in her bank account and a journalist fee of $750 on her person. Money is NOT the measure of a man or woman in terms of life success but Billie Holiday did experience above average fame at her craft so should have been able to afford a good standard of living until her demise.

It is more than terribly tragic that her life was scarred by such hard times. She sacrificed her health despite her outstanding talents. At the beginning of this post, I mentioned that Jupiter can turn out not so beneficial after all -the potential however with the placement of Jupiter in Pisces, is huge. Potential must be nurtured constructively for it not to end in wasted talent, time or people…a lesson not to be forgotten when dealing with Jupiter ‘The Great Benefic’ in any sign or house.
